If your system was made before May 2008, chances are it has a Samsung, Hitachi or BenQ drive in it. These drives are not XBox Live safe and if you play backup games connected to XBox Live, your console will probably be banned from ever connecting again. We do not guarantee that you will not be banned.
Newer Drives - Cost $70 / Time: approx 1 hour
If your system was made after May 2008, chances are it has a Lite-On drive in it. The drives require a bit more work to mod, but they have the added benefit of being XBox Live safe currently.
Note: A mod can never be XBox Live safe forever. They may always find a way to ban your system. Please read up on how to backup your games properly for the least chance of being banned. We do not guarantee that you will not be banned in the future. It is best to only play backup games with your system disconnected from XBox Live.
